BAKU - President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has said that they had been exerting efforts to overcome some problems in labor and social security.
President Aliyev received Turkish Labor and Social Security Minister Murat Basesgioglu, who is currently paying an official visit to Azerbaijan, on Thursday.
Speaking at the meeting, President Aliyev said that they had given priority to reduce unemployment rates and to open new business places in their efforts to overcome some problems in labor and social security.
Meanwhile, Basesgioglu expressed Turkey's pleasure with President Aliyev's statement about Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Stressing that the bilateral relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan had been set up on sound grounds, Basesgioglu added that they had been working hard to further improve those relations.
Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Unal Cevikoz and Azerbaijani Labor and Social Security Minister Ali Nagiyev were also in attendance at the meeting.
During his visit to Turkey in April of 2004, President Aliyev of Azerbaijan said that if the Turkish Cypriot side said ''yes'' and the Greek Cypriot said ''no'' in the referendum on April 24, Azerbaijan would be one of the first countries recognizing TRNC.
