Second Round Of Debates Over Package Of Amendments To Be Held At Parliament Tomorrow

ANKARA - The second round of debates over package of constitutional amendments will be held at the parliamentary general assembly on Friday.
During the first round of debates held on May 4, the Republican People's Party (CHP) submitted motions about the first article of the package envisaging amendment to Article 10 of the Constitution about ''Equality Before the Law'', and the seventh article of the package envisaging amendment to Article 90 of the Constitution about ''Ratification of International Treaties''.
At least 330 votes of MPs are required for enactment of the package.
If the package receives more than 367 votes and is approved by the President, it will come into effect without referendum.
The president has the authority to resort to referendum even if the package receives more than 367 votes.
Any article receiving less than 330 votes, will be considered invalid.
