Turkey Raises $649 Million Income Through Exports Of Hazelnuts

TRABZON - Turkey has exported 174 thousand 413 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 649 million 581 thousand 792 U.S. dollars in the 35th week of hazelnut export season which started on September 1, 2003.
Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association told the A.A correspondent on Thursday that Turkey had been exporting hazelnuts to 80 countries.
They said that Turkey exported 137 thousand 887 tons of hazelnuts to the European Union (EU) countries, 20 thousand 514 tons of hazelnuts to other European countries, 9 thousand 820 tons of hazelnuts to overseas countries and 6 thousand 192 tons of hazelnuts to other countries.
In the same period of the previous export season, Turkey had exported 216 thousand 779 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 493 million 595 thousand 701 U.S. dollars.
