WASHINGTON - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat has said that the north of Cyprus would get technical support on development of banking system and monetary policies from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Talat, who continues his meetings in Washington, met late on Wednesday with IMF European I Department Director Michael Deppler.
Following the meeting, Talat said that IMF could not extend direct aid to TRNC as it was not member of the IMF and quoted IMF officials as saying that there was not any problem regarding technical aid to TRNC.
