DENIZLI - The exports of textiles and apparel from western province of Denizli increased 25.7 percent to 77 million 245 thousand U.S. dollars in April of 2004 over to the same month of previous year.
Denizli Textile and Apparel Exporters' Association told the A.A on Wednesday that exports of textiles and apparel rose 21.9 percent to 291 million 192 thousand U.S. dollars in January-April period of the year.
The exports of towel increased 35.6 percent to 113 million 799 thousand U.S. dollars and the exports of bed sheet rose 24.3 percent to 31 million 793 thousand U.S. dollars while the exports of bathrobe dropped 5.8 percent to 48 million 351 thousand U.S. dollars.
The province exported 51 million 94 thousand U.S. dollars of textiles and apparel to the United States and 70 million 108 thousand U.S. dollars of textiles and apparel to Germany.
With its historical, economic, cultural and touristic values, the province of Denizli is the second active and fast developing city after Izmir in the Aegean Region.
In Denizli, the most important sectors are textile, apparel and leather industries. In addition to these, there are sectors of metal goods-machines, petro-chemistry, metal main industry, cable and nail, foodstuff, agricultural devices, forestry products and paper industry.
