ANKARA - Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Erkan Mumcu has said that number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey in April of 2004 rose 64.7 percent to 1 million 102 thousand 276 over to the same month of previous year.
Holding a press conference, Mumcu said on Wednesday that number of foreign tourists coming to Turkey in the first four months of the year increased 52.33 percent to 3 million 27 thousand 931.
Stressing that Turkey had become a country exporting tourists, Mumcu pointed out that the World Tourism Organization appreciated increase in number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey.
''According to tourism figures, Turkey exported two thirds of total number of foreign countries coming to Turkey. It means to say that Turkey exported 1 million 946 thousand 346 tourists in the January-April period of the year,'' Mumcu added.
