BERLIN - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer said that they appreciate German policy on Cyprus problem during Germany's EU presidency.
"German government and parliament carried out a stable, promoting and effective policy during Germany's EU presidency. Although this policy did not help isolations be lifted, Germany's policy had contributions in defeating Greek Cypriot arguments which were in favor of isolations," Soyer told a press conference in Berlin, where he held talks with German officials.
Noting that TRNC wants to start negotiations in line with UN parameters and UN good-faith initiatives, Soyer said their principle is a bizonal and bicommunal solution which will be based on political equity under Turkey's guarantee.
"Europeans are tired of deadlock caused by Greek Cypriots. Deadlock has led to impatience, which gave rise to trouble in Europe," he said.
Soyer, who also met Turkish businessmen living in Germany, said he urged them to collaborate witn TRNC.
Soyer will meet former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder later in the day.
