FRANKFURT - Turkish Culture & Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay said Turkey regards the Frankfurt Book Fair not only a book exhibition but also a marketing activity.
Gunay held a press conference on "Turkey: Guest Country in 2008" in Germany's Frankfurt Book Fair.
Stating that his ministry attaches great importance to publishing, Gunay said they aim to promote Turkish works outside the country.
He said they have been carrying out a project on that to have Turkish writers' works translated into foreign languages, noting that they have provided financial support to publishers for Turkish works of art, culture and literature.
"So far, we subsidized publishers in 40 countries to have 223 Turkish books translated into other languages. 70 of them were published," he said.
