UNITED NATIONS - "Countries that shelter terrorists must immediately put an end to this practice," asked Baki Ilkin, Turkey's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, on Wednesday.
Speaking at a meeting on "Eradication of International Terrorism" at the UN HQ, Ilkin said, "Turkey, which lost 15 of its citizens in the acts of terror in the last two days, expects the international community to display a resolute stance and take tangible steps to counter terrorism."
"Terrorism is a crime against humanity which cannot be justified in any way. All acts of terror should be condemned unconditionally. Words are not enough in this fight. The international community should take action to fulfil its commitments," he said.
"If we treat differently terrorists targeting ourselves and terrorists targeting the others; or military and civilian victims, we cannot defeat this inhuman calamity. Although the whole world has suffered from terrorism for years, countries are unable yet to reach a compromise over measures to be taken. Actually, there is no room for hesitation and indecision in the fight against terrorism," he said.
Ilkin kept on saying, "countries that shelter terrorists intentionally or unintentionally, must immediately put an end to this. Countries which do not extradite terrorists must start extraditing them."
