WASHINGTON D.C. - Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), who is expected to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell in New York, later on Tuesday, will hold meetings with International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank officials in Washington D.C.
Talat is scheduled to attend two separate meetings to be held by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and the Heritage Foundation on Wednesday.
He is expected to meet with U.S. House of Representatives Committee on International Relations Chairman Henry Hyde the same day.
On Thursday, Talat will meet with IMF European I Department Director Michael Deppler and World Bank Vice President Shigeo Katsu for Europe and Central Asia.
Talat is expected to partake in a luncheon to be hosted by the American Jewish Committee the same day.
He is expected to meet with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Elizabeth Jones for Europe and Eurasia.
During his meetings with U.S. officials, Talat will ask the United States to support their initiatives to lift international isolation against Turkish Cypriot people who displayed an attitude in favor of solution in the referendums on the island on April 24, 2004.
