KARABUK - Ending of Abdullah Gul`s presidency is not possible, even if `yes` vote comes out in the referendum, Turkish Parliamentary Justice Commission Chairman Ahmet Iyimaya said on Sunday.
He said that the temporary 19th article (which sets election of the 11th president) cannot be applied as the president has already been elected.
Iyimaya said, "views claiming that 11th President Abdullah Gul should resign within 40 days after the article is put into effect are wrong. Ending of Gul`s presidency is not possible even if `yes` vote comes out in the referendum. Also reduction of Gul`s term in office to 5 years is out of question. Election of 11th president by people could only be possible if the 11th president had not been elected."
