Erdogan: Turkey Should Get Used To Referendum Culture Too From Now On

ISTANBUL - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that from now on, Turkey should get used to referendum culture too.
Speaking at a fast-breaking dinner (iftaar) in Istanbul on Saturday, Erdogan said that there will be issues to be discussed in the country and these issues will be asked to public.
Erdogan reminded that a referendum will be held on constitutional amendment on October 21st.
He said that activities for the referendum are continuing, adding that ministers will work together with all executive board chairmen in 81 provinces today and tomorrow.
Regarding activities for constitutional amendment, Erdogan said that preparations on the new draft constitution are on final stage, and debates continue about the draft constitution.
Erdogan said that the authority to prepare the constitution belongs to legislative body which means parliamentarians, adding that this is parliamentary democracy.
He noted that when activities are completed on constitutional amendment, they will send the draft to all political parties both in and out of the parliament, non-governmental organizations, universities, media and all circles which are interested in this issue.
"We will also broadcast the draft on internet site of Justice & Development (AK) Party. We will receive all criticisms," he added.
He said that following this process, they will submit the final draft to Parliament.
Erdogan said that national income per capita will be 7,000 USD this year, reminding that it was 2,500 USD when they came into rule.
He noted that Turkey is taken into consideration in all important developments in the world, adding that they are exerting efforts to make Turkey a global actor in its region and in the world as well as they are trying to strengthen Turkey`s international position.
Erdogan said that their target is to reach 10,000 USD of national income per capita in 2013.
