Cicek: We Will Protect Rights And Interests Of Turkey And Turkish Republic Of Northern Cyprus

ANKARA - Justice Minister and Government Spokesman Cemil Cicek has said that the government had been carrying out several works to protect rights and interests of both Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) following the twin referendums in Cyprus on April 24, 2004.
Holding a press conference after meeting of the Council of Ministers, Cicek said on Monday that recent developments in Cyprus were discussed at the meeting.
''Our government has been carrying out several works to protect rights and interests of both Turkey and TRNC following the twin referendums in Cyprus last month. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul informed members of the Council of Ministers on these works,'' he said.
Cicek told reporters, ''it is a perpetual work. We have been trying to put forward results of referendums in Cyprus and to accelerate efforts to lift international isolation against Turkish Cypriot people. We launch initiatives in the United Nations, the European Union (EU), the Council of Ministers and in the relevant countries. We explain views of both Turkey and TRNC in the best way.''
