Turkish Republic Of Northern Cyprus Premier's Meetings In U.S. To Focus On Lifting Of Isolation

NEW YORK - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat who will arrive in New York as the guest of U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell would mainly discuss lifting of political and economic isolation of the TRNC during his meetings.
Sources said on Monday that Talat would have a meeting with Powell at the UN building on Tuesday. Prior to this meeting, Talat would meet with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, sources said.
UN sources said that in his meeting with Powell, Talat would ask him to pioneer in steps on lifting of unjust social and economic isolation of Turkish Cypriots.
Sources said Talat would similarly ask Annan to include factors that would recover situation of the Turkish Cypriot side which had approved his plan in the referendum, in his report that he was going to present to the UN Security Council.
TRNC Prime Minister Talat will proceed from New York to Washington late on Tuesday and he will meet with high-level Congressmen, World Bank officials and Jewish organizations' officials.
Talat will also address think tank organization Strategic and International Studies Center meeting.
