GUL: SHAMEFUL PHOTOGRAPHS THAT CAN NOT BE FORGOTTEN

ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul Monday described the photographs showing torturing of Iraqi prisoners as ''shameful photographs''.
Replying to questions of reporters, Gul said Turkey expressed its concerns on the issue in every level and platform.
When journalists reminded Gul the photographs showing torturing of Iraqi prisoners by the coalition forces, he said, ''it is really shameful. Undoubtedly, these will not be forgotten easily. However, it is pleasing that investigations were opened in both countries against the torturing and that those responsible will be punished.''
Gul said it was also pleasing that those photographs were not hidden, and noted, ''this is more important. Exposure of those incidents is a favor of democracy and freedom. However, undoubtedly those photographs will not be forgotten. Turkey expresses its concerns on the issue in every platform.''
