ANKARA - Pier Ferdinando Casini, the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, would pay an official visit to Ankara as the guest of Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc between May 3 and 4, the Italian Embassy in Ankara said on Friday.
Releasing a statement, the Italian Embassy said that Casini would be received by Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and noted that Casini would have a meeting Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The statement noted that Casini and Arinc would hold a joint press conference on Tuesday and stated that Casini would pay a visit to Ankara in a period when there were busy bilateral relations between the two countries.
It noted that Casini and Turkish officials would discuss the European Union's (EU) enlargement process, issues concerning transatlantic dialogue and NATO before the summit which would be held in Istanbul in June and added that they would also take up the latest developments in Iraq, the Middle East, Afghanistan and Israel-Palestine peace process.
