ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that there should be unity in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in his meeting with TRNC Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat and Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas, sources said on Thursday.
Sources noted that Erdogan thanked Talat and Denktas for their initiatives for solution in Cyprus and efforts during the process of referenda which were held in Cyprus on April 24.
Talat said that his meetings in the European Parliament in Belgian capital Brussels were very beneficial and stated that the article in Cyprus regulations which said that Greek Cypriot side would determine the institution which would give certificate in exports of TRNC goods via south of the island could not be accepted. He added that this article should be changed.
Erdogan considered Talat's demand on this issue appropriate.
Prime Minister Erdogan said that a new stage was reached in Cyprus and noted that there should be unity in TRNC and it was very important. Erdogan stressed that there should not be any internal problem in TRNC. Talat and Denktas shared Erdogan's view in the meeting.
