ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has thanked United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan's Special Envoy for Cyprus Alvaro De Soto for his intense efforts to provide peace in Cyprus.
Releasing a statement, the Prime Ministry Press Center said on Thursday that De Soto bade farewell to Prime Minister Erdogan.
De Soto thanked Prime Minister Erdogan for his initiatives to find a solution to the Cyprus issue.
Meanwhile, new situation in Cyprus following last week's referendums was assessed at the meeting among Prime Minister Erdogan, Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and TRNC Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Erdogan highlighted importance of unity and solidarity in TRNC.
