ANKARA - Irfan Riza Yazicioglu, a deputy of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), has asked the government to provide the necessary facilities for organization of the International Baghdad Fair in southeastern province of Diyarbakir.
Yazicioglu sent letters to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, State Minister Kursad Tuzmen and Industry and Trade Minister Ali Coskun.
In his letter, Yazicioglu highlighted importance of Iraqi and Middle Eastern markets in regard to regional economy.
''Our government's providing the necessary facilities for organization of the International Baghdad Fair in Diyarbakir between May 25 and 27, 2004 will be the sign of its promise to turn Diyarbakir into the commercial center of the Middle East,'' he said.
