ANKARA - Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and his Mongolian counterpart Natsagiyn Bagabandi, who is currently paying a state visit to Turkey, signed a joint declaration on Thursday.
The joint declaration includes below-mentioned points:
- The Turkish side said that it would continue supporting the restructuring process of Mongolian Armed Forces.
- The Mongolian side expressed its pleasure with Turkey's providing Mongolian students with education opportunities in universities and the Police Academy in Turkey.
- The Turkish side eulogized Mongolia's achievements in its transition process in democratic society and free market economy, pledging to support Mongolia's initiatives to strengthen its position in the international community.
- The Mongolian side expressed its wish that Turkey's efforts to become a full member of the European Union (EU) would yield positive results.
- The sides expressed their regret that a unique and historic opportunity was missed in Cyprus and that the comprehensive solution agreement supported by the international community, could not be put into practice.
The sides appreciated the Turkish Cypriot side's courageous attitude, and stressed that international isolation against Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) should be lifted.
- The sides corroborated that opening of embassies mutually had accelerated the bilateral relations.
- The sides condemned all kinds of acts of terrorism, emphasizing that any political, philosophical, ideological, religious and racial reason could not justify terrorism. Also, the sides pledged to co-operate in fight against terrorism.
- The sides highlighted importance of the United States' handing over sovereignty to Iraqi people and of formation of a administrative structure in which all ethnical groups in Iraq are represented.
