SEZER: OUR ECONOMIC AND COMMERCIAL RELATIONS ARE UNDER DESIRED LEVEL
ANKARA - Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said on Thursday that the economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Mongolia were under desired level and stressed the importance of strengthening those relations.
Sezer and Mongolian President Natsagiyn Bagabandi chaired meetings between delegations after their bilateral meeting.
Following the meetings between delegations, Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu, State Minister Besir Atalay and Mongolian Foreign Minister Luvsangiin Erdenechuluun signed agreements which envisage cooperation between two countries.
Sezer and Bagabandi held a joint press conference after signing a joint statement.
Sezer said that they have taken up all dimensions of bilateral relations.
Sezer said that the cooperation agreements showed the desire of further developing the close relations.
Sezer said, ''we have exchanged views today to bring new dimensions to the cooperation of our countries in every field. We are pleased to see that we share common views in many issues. We have agreed that our economic and commercial relations are under the desired level. We believe that in spite of geographical distance, the economic and commercial cooperation facilities between our countries are over the current figures. The main agenda item of the fourth term meeting of Joint Economy and Trade Commission which is envisaged to be held in 2004 will be accelerating the relations between two countries. I wish Turkish-Mongolian Business Council which is planned to be held within this year will strengthen the relations between private sectors.''
PRESIDENT BAGABANDI: ''WE ARE READY TO EXERT EFFORTS TO IMPROVE OUR ECONOMIC RELATIONS''
Speaking at the press conference, President Bagabandi expressed his pleasure with increasing political relations between Turkey and Mongolia.
He recalled that Turkey and Mongolia had been supporting each other in international platforms.
Noting that there had been good social, cultural and educational relations between the two countries, President Bagabandi said, ''many Mongolian students have been studying in universities in Turkey.''
He noted that protocols and agreements, which were signed earlier in the day, would further accelerate the bilateral relations.
Expressing his satisfaction with close relations between Turkey and Mongolia in security and defense, President Bagabandi said, ''we are ready to exert efforts to further improve our economic relations with Turkey. We, especially, want to develop the co-operation between Turkish and Mongolian private sectors. We also want to carry out works to co-operate with Turkey in press.''
