ISTANBUL - U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Eric Edelman said on Thursday that the United States was grateful to Turkish government for its assistance in Iraq.
Edelman delivered a speech in the opening of seminar on opportunities of subcontract works in Iraq which was held by U.S. Embassy Trade Service.
Noting that besides contractor activities the whole world would bring its experience and expertise during the reconstruction process of Iraq, Edelman said that they did this in Afghanistan, adding that Turkish contractors undertook 75 percent of contractor agreements and contracts in reconstruction of Afghanistan and also Turkish firms were carrying out Kabul Qandahar Project.
Edelman said that the United States was grateful to Turkish government for its assistance in Iraq. He added that Turkey provided transfer of U.S. units by Incirlik base.
Edelman thanked U.S. and Turkish firms which searched for new opportunities in Iraq and said that those firms would reconstruct Iraq and there were many opportunities in Iraq for companies in commercial aspect.
