TEHRAN - Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Erkan Mumcu attended the third meeting of Turkish-Iranian Business Council in Iranian capital Tehran on Tuesday.
Iranian Roads and Transport Minister Ahmad Khoram was also in attendance at the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Mumcu said that further improvement of bilateral economic relations between Turkey and Iran would also be beneficial to the other countries in the region.
Mumcu stressed that Turkey and Iran should use their regional potentials to overcome several problems.
Noting that the trade volume between Turkey and Iran was about 2.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2003, Mumcu said that the trade volume could increase up to 5 billion U.S. dollars as a result of co-operation between Turkish and Iranian private sectors.
Earlier in the day, Mumcu and Islamic Culture and Guidance Minister Ahmad Masjed-Jamei of Iran opened the ``Turkish Tourism Days`` Fair.
A panel discussion was held on Turkey-Iran Tourism Co-operation`` under the fair.
Mumcu is expected to be received by First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref of Iran on Wednesday.
He is also scheduled to meet with Iranian Education and Training Minister Morteza Hazi.
