Turkey Raises $488 Million Income Through Exports Of Hazelnuts

TRABZON - Turkey exported 171 thousand 36 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 635 million 209 thousand 780 U.S. dollars in the 34th week of the hazelnut export season which started on September 1, 2003.
Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association told the A.A correspondent on Tuesday that Turkey was exporting hazelnuts to 80 countries.
They said that Turkey exported 135 thousand 236 tons of hazelnuts to the European Union (EU) countries, 20 thousand 388 tons of hazelnuts to other European countries, 9 thousand 663 tons of hazelnuts to overseas countries and 6 thousand 49 tons of hazelnuts to other countries.
In the same period of the last export season, Turkey had exported 213 thousand 981 tons of hazelnuts and obtained an income of 487 million 72 thousand 5 U.S. dollars.
