LEFKOSA - United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan's Special Envoy to Cyprus has bidden farewell to President Rauf Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Addressing journalists following the 20-minute meeting, De Soto said on Tuesday that President Denktas and he had worked together for a long time.
Noting that he had paid a visit to President Denktas to bid farewell, De Soto said that they had held a friendly meeting.
When asked whether or not a second referendum would be held in Cyprus, De Soto said that the Greek Cypriot side should think about it.
De Soto said that they would do nothing but assessing the developments for the time being.
Earlier in the day, De Soto met with Peace and Democracy Movement (BDH) leader Mustafa Akinci.
De Soto will proceed to Ankara on Wednesday to hold a series of meetings.
After completing his visit to Ankara, De Soto will proceed to Athens.
Later, he will present his Cyprus Report to United Nations Secretary General Annan.
