GUL: ''GREEK CYPRIOT SIDE'S POLICY OF ACCUSING TURKISH CYPRIOT SIDE OF BEING INTRANSIGENT BY DISTORTING THE REALITIES HAS FAILED''
ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul has said that they regretted rejection of U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan's resolution plan by the Greek Cypriot side, adding, ''thus the Greek Cypriot side's policy of accusing the Turkish Cypriot side of being intransigent by distorting the facts has failed, too.''
Holding a news conference on Saturday after synchronous referenda results were announced, Gul said that they expected the Greek Cypriot political leadership and international community to give up their unjust embargo and restrictions on the Turkish Cypriot people.
Noting that nobody had the right to isolate the Turkish Cypriot people anymore in international field, Gul said, ''the international community has to undertake its responsibilities against the Turkish Cypriot people who live within a pluralist democratic structure that respects human rights.''
Stressing that its motherland Turkey would always stand by the TRNC, Gul said that Turkey would continue fulfilling its responsibilities for prosperity and happiness of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Asked whether TRNC President Rauf Denktas should resign, Gul said that it was TRNC's domestic matter.
