Erdogan: Process Has Still Been Continuing In Retrial Of Former Dep Deputies

ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the process of the Supreme Court of Appeals had still been continuing about the decision taken by the Ankara State Security Court (DGM) in retrial process of former deputies of the Democracy Party (DEP) which was banned by the Constitutional Court.
Replying to questions of journalists at the reception hosted by Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc to mark the 84th anniversary of foundation of the Turkish parliament, Prime Minister Erdogan said on Saturday, ''the process of the Supreme Court of Appeals has still been continuing about the decision taken by the Ankara DGM in retrial process of former deputies of the DEP. Also, a constitutional amendment package has been on our agenda under the Turkey's European Union (EU) process. DGMs are included in the package. When the package is enacted, the problem will end.''
Prime Minister Erdogan refrained from replying to questions about the Cyprus issue.
On Thursday, Ankara DGM no: 1 convicted Leyla Zana, Hatip Dicle, Orhan Dogan and Selim Sadak, the former deputies of the DEP, ordering them to serve the remainder of their 15-year prison sentences. Ankara DGM ratified former decision of the court against the former deputies of the DEP in accordance with Article 341/1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CMUK) arranging the decision to be made in retrial process.
