Tuzmen: Exports From Turkey Will Exceed $50 Billion

ATHENS - Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen has said, ''exports from Turkey will exceed 50 billion U.S. dollars this year.''
Replying to questions of journalists, Tuzmen who is currently paying an official visit to Greece, said on Friday, ''exports from Turkey will exceed 50 billion U.S. dollars. Our exports could rise up to 55 billion U.S. dollars. The export target of 30 billion U.S. dollars was a psychological limit. And the target of 50 billion U.S. dollars is a critical limit. After Turkey exceeds 50 billion U.S. dollars in exports, our exports will not drop under this limit.''
''Our exports increased by 75 percent in 2003 over to the previous year. In the first three months of 2004, our exports rose by 80 percent,'' he said.
Referring to economic and commercial relations with Britain under the light of his recent visit to this country, Tuzmen said, ''our target of mutual trade volume with Britain is 10 billion U.S. dollars for 2004. Turkey has an important share in British markets.''
Tuzmen added that Chinese delegations would pay a visit to Turkey in the coming days to discuss the economic and commercial relations between Turkey and the People's Republic of China.
