ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul has said, ''Turkey has done everything in its power about the Cyprus issue. Now, the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots will make their decision.''
Gul and Foreign Minister Saud al-Faysal of Saudi Arabia held a joint press conference on Thursday after their bilateral meeting.
When asked whether Turkey would put into practice a ''Plan B'' after the United Nations Security Council's Cyprus resolution was vetoed by Russia, Gul said, ''Turkey has done everything in its power about the Cyprus issue. Now, the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots will make their decision.''
''There was nothing new in the United Nations Security Council's Cyprus resolution. The resolution envisaged taking the agreement under guarantee. Actually, the agreement has its guarantee within itself. Under the agreement, armament and weapon smuggling will be prevented on the island. The resolution was further strengthening the agreement. It is not regarding the content of the agreement. Everything was written in the agreement. However, Russia vetoed it. There is nothing we can do,'' Gul added.
