ANKARA - Turkey and Romania have signed a protocol on development of cooperation in energy field.
Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler and Economy and Trade Minister Dan Ioan Popescu of Romania signed the protocol.
Releasing a statement on Wednesday, Energy and Natural Resources Ministry said that Popescu visited Guler on Tuesday and stated that the two ministers held a meeting on projects and initiatives which would be made in development of cooperation between the two countries.
Popescu said that Turkey became the fifth partner of Romania on energy field with the protocol which was signed between the two countries and stated that they were ready to take important steps in development of cooperation with Turkey.
Guler said that the protocol aimed to improve cooperation between Turkish Pipeline Transportation Corp (Botas) and Romanian Transgas company in natural gas pipeline project and added that this project aimed to transport natural gas which would be bought from Caspian Region, Middle East and South Mediterranean countries via Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria to European countries.
