WASHINGTON - A powerful 6.9 magnitude quake shook Colombia`s Pacific coastline near the border with Ecuador late Sunday, the US Geological Survey reported.
The quake struck at 8:49 pm (0149 GMT) and its epicenter was located some 140 kilometers (87 miles) north-northeast of Tumaco, and 166 kilometers (103 miles) southwest of Buenaventura, Colombia`s main port on the Pacific, the USGS said.
The epicenter was at a depth of eight kilometers (five miles).
Early radio reports gave no indications of victims or destruction.
