ANKARA - Turkey and Bulgaria signed on Wednesday agreements on air and sea transportation.
The 20th term meeting of Turkey-Bulgaria Joint Transportation Commission ended with a ceremony for signing the agreements.
Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim and Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Transportation-Communications Minister Nikolai Vasilev signed the agreements.
Yildirim said that Air Transportation Agreement which had been signed in 1966 was updated according to current conditions and noted that security would be ensured in sea transportation between Turkey and Bulgaria, sea pollution would be prevented and technical cooperation would be made with Sea Transportation Agreement.
He noted that it was decided to hold a meeting in the second half of the year to further improve relations between telecom operators of the two countries in communication sector.
Stating that a new border gate between Turkey and Bulgaria would be opened in Hamzabeyli, Yildirim said that they planned to open this border gate in August.
Vasilev said that studies which were carried out by the two sides would improve transportation infrastructure and stated that there was need for new investments.
