ANKARA - Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said on Tuesday that Turkish side and Bulgarian side were carrying on their studies to open a new border gate between Turkey and Bulgaria.
Yildirim met with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Transportation-Communications Minister Nikolai Vasilev, who is currently in Ankara for the 20th term meeting of Turkey-Bulgaria Joint Transportation Commission.
Stating that a meeting between delegations would be held to update agreements on maritime and aviation, Yildirim noted that those updated agreements would be signed on Wednesday.
Yildirim said that there was not any serious problem in highway, railway and airway transportation, noting that Turkey and Bulgaria took necessary measures to remove busy traffic at border gates. ''Both sides carry on their studies for opening of another border gate between the two countries,'' he said.
Noting that trade volume between the two countries amounted to about 1.3 billion U.S. dollars, he said that transportation and communication services should be carried out well for improvement of trade volume.
Yildirim added that it was planned to open new border gate in Hamzakoy.
