ISTANBUL - A ceremony took place in Istanbul on Tuesday to mark the 8th anniversary of establishment of the South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG), a multinational peace force established by Balkan countries.
Speaking at the ceremony, SEEBRIG`s Romanian commander Gen. Virgil Balaceanu said that SEEBRIG has attained an active role and significant experiences under the roof of Southeastern Europe defense management.
He said SEEBRIG has guaranteed regional security and international cooperation.
"Recent developments in the world and in Balkans show that SEEBRIG takes proper steps for cooperation and transparency," Balaceanu said.
Formed in 1999 by Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Romania and Turkey, SEEBRIG is now located within the premises of Turkish 3rd Army Corps since June 2007.
