Erdogan: We Will Assess Views About The Government Program Seriously

ANKARA - "We will assess all the views about the program of the 60th government seriously," Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday.
Speaking at the parliamentary group meeting of his Justice & Development (AK) Party, Erdogan said, "the Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK) announced monthly and annual inflation rates in August. Those figures revealed that we can reach our end-year target as a result of our successful disinflation program."
"Exports rose 22.66 percent to 98.9 billion USD in 2006. Our target is to raise this amount to 100 billion USD this year," he said.
Erdogan said, "some political parties recommended us to reduce imports. We will take into consideration their proposal. However, they forget an important point. Only energy and oil account for 28 billion USD of Turkish imports."
"Despite the election process and fluctuations in global markets, our economy has been continuing to grow. We succeeded in maintaining our economic balance and financial discipline," he said.
"As the AK Party, we have always paid careful attention to embrace all sections of the society. We have never made any discrimination among our people. Any municipality in Turkey can say that the government ignored them. We do not have any problem with our people. On the other hand, we expect local administrators to work hard instead of talking too much. During our political power, we have made investments worth of nearly 4.2 billion USD in eastern and southeastern regions," Erdogan added.
