ANKARA - Democratic Left Party (DSP) Chairman Zeki Sezer said Monday the 60th Government Program resembled a text explaining the past actions rather than one setting future goals, and indicated that DSP deputies would cast no votes to the program.
Sezer held a press conference at the parliament and recalled Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan`s remarks about `an active foreign policy` and claimed that the most passive foreign policy was pursued during Justice and Development (AK) Party rule.
"AK Party does not have a set foreign policy, one of the subjects the government is most clumsy at is the Cyprus issue," said Zeki Sezer.
Recalling that the program made references to a `constitution of civil compromise` and a `wide social accord`, Sezer said, "we deem this a positive approach. However, we hope the prime minister will not mix compromise with imposition like he did until recently. We have worries; we are warning them not to make attempts to alter the system."
Sezer drew attention to studies on a new constitution and said, "if the studies for a civil constitution turns into an initiative to erase Ataturk from the constitution, nobody will be able to shoulder the responsibility (consequences)."
Sezer said the ruling party should not depend on its popular majority and asserted that nobody could find the power to erase Ataturk from the constitution or the nation`s heart.
