ISTANBUL - Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry which was set up with initiative of the Union of Turkish Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) and the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) will be opened in Cologne, Germany on April 27.
The chamber which was set up to further improve economic relations between Turkey and Germany will support cooperation and investment activities of private sector organizations of the two countries.
Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Kemal Sahin who held a press conference at the Marmara Hotel in Istanbul on Wednesday said that Germany was the most important foreign trade partner of Turkey. Sahin stated that foreign trade volume increased in great amount recently and noted that annual trade volume exceeded 16 billion euros between the two countries.
Noting that more than 1.200 German companies have made investment in Turkey amounting to over 4 billion euros so far, Sahin said that 60 thousand Turkish entrepreneurs made investment in Germany which amounted to 7.5 billion euros.
Sahin said that recent developments required establishment of such a chamber and noted that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, North Rhine-Westphalia Prime Minister Peer Steinbruck and high-level politicians and investors from Turkey and Germany were invited to the opening of the Turkish-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry on April 27.
