ANKARA - Turkey was closely following developments in Iraq and exerting necessary efforts, Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Namik Tan said on Wednesday.
When asked if Turkey had made a call for its citizens in Iraq to return to Turkey upon recent developments in Iraq, Tan said Turkey always warned Turkish citizens of threats and dangers beforehand and in time.
Tan noted that Turkey was doing what was necessary.
Asked if Turkey had launched any initiatives regarding developments in the region, Tan said, ''we are carefully following the developments and exerting necessary efforts.''
Noting that Turkey had contacted not only the United States but also some other countries regarding developments in the region, Tan said, ''we are making necessary suggestions and taking necessary measures.''
