ANKARA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered his condolences to Prime Minister Konstandinos Karamanlis of Greece following the catastrophic wildfires in Greece.
Prime Minister Erdogan called on his Greek counterpart Karamanlis on the phone, and offered condolences on behalf of Turkish people.
He said that Turkish people commiserated with Greek people.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Karamanlis informed Prime Minister Erdogan on recent developments and thanked for sending a plane in an effort to assist Greek fire-fighting teams.
Wildfires that began last week, killed more than 60 people and ravaged nearly 200,000 hectares in southern Greece. Turkey earlier sent a plane to Greece to help tackle the blazes.
