Turkey And China Sign 210 Mln Usd-export Agreement

ISTANBUL - A total of 14 Turkish companies and 8 Chinese firms signed export agreements amounting to 210 million USD, on Tuesday.
A delegation comprising of Chinese public and private sector representatives headed by Vice Minister of Commerce of China Xiuhong Ma, held talks with their Turkish counterparts at Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM).
Turkish and Chinese companies signed agreements on exports of wool, copper, chrome, lead and polyacrylonitrile.
Delivering a speech at the signing ceremony, Chinese Vice Minister Xiuhong Ma said that China's imports from Turkey reached 500 million USD during the first 7 months of 2007, with a 80 percent rise in last year's figures.
"By the end of this year, the import figures will exceed 1 billion USD for the first time," Xiuhong Ma affirmed.
Meanwhile, Turkish Deputy Secretary of Foreign Trade Ulker Guzel indicated that Chinese and Turkish companies could particularly cooperate in sectors such as tourism and contracting services.
