U.S. Congratulates Gul On His Election As President

WASHINGTON D.C. - The U.S. State Department spokesman Tom Casey congratulated Abdullah Gul on his election as the 11th President of Turkey, stating that democratic development in Turkey is under way.
Speaking to reporters, Casey noted that the United States welcomed the result by Turkish democracy.
Stating that when Gul was the foreign minister, they worked together, Casey indicated that he hoped that he would keep working with President Gul closely.
