ANKARA - Peter Ford, head of UN's Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), a body set up uniquely for Palestinian refugees, said Tuesday that UNRWA was very much pleased with Turkey's voluntary efforts to work with the agency.
Speaking at a press conference after his talks with officials from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Ford recalled that Turkey extended 1.75 million USD to Palestinian refugees in kind and cash in 2006.
"Turkey plays a major role in the Middle East and UNRWA considers with high esteem the humanitarian aid that Turkey has extended to the region," Ford told reporters.
