ANKARA - Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan said that the parliament will convene again at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday for the sworn-in ceremony of the new president, after he closed the general assembly session in which Abdullah Gul, the presidential candidate of the ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party, was elected.
In the third round of the presidential election, Gul won 339 votes and became the 11th president of Turkey.
Sabahattin Cakmakoglu, a candidate from the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), got 70 votes and Tayfun Icli, a candidate from the Democratic Left Party (DSP), gained 13 votes in the third round of voting at the parliament.
