LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Friday that the Turkish Parliamentarians Union invited him to address the Turkish parliament on April 15.
Speaking at a meeting, Denktas said, ''I received an invitation to deliver a speech at the Turkish parliament on April 15. They told me that they would make an application for my addressing whole parliament if it is possible. I hope I would be given opportunity.''
Noting that Annan's plan would destroy the TRNC's economy and make Turkish Cypriots distraught, Denktas said that title deeds given by the TRNC would be invalid and value of properties of Turkish Cypriots would be calculated according to southern Cyprus in case the plan was put into practice.
Stating that the plan included unjust matters which should be corrected, Denktas said that the whole of the nine-thousand-page plan was not read, also the adjustment laws that Greek Cypriots had made with the European Union (EU) were included in the plan which were not known. Denktas said that laws were passed from the technical committees in haste.
Noting that counterfoils of everybody in the TRNC would be invalid after May 1 and they had to apply to property commission if Annan's plan was accepted, Denktas said that such a referendum had never been held in the world.
Stating that they did not know about the laws in the plan and they would vote unawarely, Denktas said people would make the decision.
