ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday that they got the things that had not been gotten so far in Cyprus talks in Switzerland.
Speaking on Turkish Radio and Television (TRT), Gul evaluated latest developments about Cyprus.
Noting that the train carrying the Greek Cypriot side to the European Union (EU) had departed in 1995 and it was about to reach the station, Gul said that they wanted to stop the train and they had taken initiative to this end.
Stating that positive and negative aspects of Annan Plan could be mentioned, Gul said, ''and I do not say it is one hundred percent positive.''
Meanwhile, it should be calculated whether continuation of the current situation or foundation of a joint state by the Turkish and Greek Cypriot sides is much better, he said.
Stressing that they got the things that had not been gotten so far in Cyprus talks in Switzerland, Gul said that issues like political equality, reservation of guarantor rights and consolidation of bi-zonality were important to them.
Gul said that they did not give full sovereignty as there might be separation in the future and instead of it they took the existing sovereignty from Greek Cypriots.
Gul added that their request for making the map straight did not happen as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) delegation did not want ancient Turkish villages handed over to Greek Cypriots in talks in Switzerland.
