LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister and Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Mehmet Ali Talat announced on Wednesday that he would go to southern Cyprus on Saturday, April 10 and visit Greek Cypriot government's partner communist party AKEL and main opposition party DISI.
It will be the first ever visit by a TRNC Prime Minister to southern Cyprus.
Making a statement after his meeting with U.N. Secretary General's Special Envoy to Cyprus Alvaro de Soto at the CTP Headquarters, Talat said that he would express their opinions to Greek Cypriot politicians and explain why they should say ''yes''.
Noting that ''this historical opportunity should not be missed'', Talat said that he would tell Greek Cypriot politicians that ''the plan is not a victory for anybody''.
Talat said that he was invited to International Donors Conference that would be held on April 15 in Brussels to discuss economic aid for resolution of Cyprus issue.
Talat said that the invitation was made by European Union's Southern Cyprus Delegation Chairman Ambassador Adrian Van Der Meer with whom he met before his meeting with de Soto.
Talat said that de Soto and he held a good meeting and they generally discussed technical matters.
