WASHINGTON - A tsunami warning was issued for the Pacific coast of South America Wednesday after a massive earthquake struck the coast of Peru.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued the warning for Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia after the quake late Wednesday, which measured 7.7 on the Richter scale.
It also issued a tsunami watch advisory for Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, and Honduras.
