ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that he discussed economic issues and cooperation in fight against international terrorism with Moroccan Prime Minister Driss Jettou.
Erdogan and Jettou held a joint press conference following their tete-a-tete meeting and meeting between Turkish and Moroccan delegations.
Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan said that there were not any political problems between the two countries.
Erdogan noted that he and Jettou reviewed solidarity among all international organizations.
He and Jettou mainly focused on economic issues in their meeting, Erdogan stated.
Erdogan said that trade volume worth of 250 million U.S. dollars for 2003 did not reflect the real potential between two countries.
Two countries had reached a consensus of opinion to increase trade volume, Erdogan pointed out.
Erdogan noted that concerned ministries would take necessary steps to further improve trade.
The free trade agreement that Turkey and Morocco would sign later in the day was the first agreement that Turkey would sign with an African country, Erdogan stressed.
Erdogan said that he and Jettou saw that there were many joint investments that two countries could make in the third countries and discussed what possible joint projects could be.
''Lifting double taxation, tourism initiatives, reciprocal exchange of products, and beginning of airline transportation are issues we discussed in our meeting. We also discussed developments in the Middle East and terrorism. We discussed how we can form a joint struggle platform against international terrorism and we both think that we should launch initiatives about this issue,'' Erdogan added.
Jettou arrived in Turkey on Tuesday for a working visit.
