ANKARA - Turkish State Minister Ali Babacan has denied some news stories about next year's relations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Babacan attended a cocktail party hosted at the Anadolu Agency (A.A) on Tuesday to mark the 84th anniversary of A.A's foundation.
Upon a question on some news stories about next year's relations with the IMF, Babacan said that the news stories were totally baseless.
Replying to another question about election to be held to appoint the new managing director of the IMF, Babacan told reporters, ''the European Union (EU) has agreed on two names. It makes no difference to Turkey. I held a telephone conversation with Spanish Finance Minister Rodrigo Rato, who is one of the candidates. Mr. Rato has close relations with Latin American countries.''
Recalling that he would leave for France tomorrow, Babacan said that he was scheduled to meet with French minister of finance.
