ISTANBUL - It was obligatory to preserve Iraq's territorial integrity, Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc said on Tuesday.
Arinc participated in the Chairmanship Council Meeting of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (COEPA) held in Istanbul.
In the meeting, Turkish Parliament Speaker Arinc stressed that regional peace and stability could not be restored unless Iraq's territorial integrity was preserved.
Arinc said that there were different ethnic and religious groups in Iraq and those groups should be represented in the Iraqi administration.
''We should ground the new state in Iraq on strong basis, being aware of the facts of this country. We always say important things about Iraq to U.S. administrators who are visiting Turkey. But, we are sorry to see that these suggestions of us are not taken into consideration,'' Arinc added.
